AVOOVA launches in the UK.

AVOOVA will be exhibiting at the Summer Fair in London from 22-25th June 2008. On the stand (A9) will be the latest additions to the range including the Menyezela Collection (see below), new designs and colours of the avoova bangles as well as a selection of the decorative accessories.

The Menyezela Collection by AVOOVA.

In February, AVOOVA launched its new range of luxurious hand-crafted aluminium bowls, platters and champagne buckets, decorated in ostrich eggshell and inlaid with sterling silver. Orders at the Design Indaba and SARCDA far exceeded expectations and the company is advising customers that lead times have been extended for the time being.

AVOOVA becomes an ICON of the Cape.

The Cape Craft & Design Institute, probably the country’s leading organisation for the development and nurturing of the South African Arts and Crafts industry recently issued AVOOVA with the highly coveted CAPE CRAFT ICON award for the ostrich eggshell creations of Gideon Engelbrecht, as well as for the company’s contribution as innovators, trend setters and job creators.

Spier Wine Estate.

As part of their refurbishment programme, the internationally renowned Spier Hotel, near Stellenbosch, recently commissioned AVOOVA to design and create an ostrich eggshell mosaic for their new reception desk. Gideon chose as his theme one of the local San people's Gods, the Praying Mantis. The reception desk mosaic measures over 7 metres in length and demonstrates the versatility as well as the beauty of this natural material.

New products added to the range.

Ostrich eggshell bangles - Judging from the enthusiastic trade and media response at the SA launch in September, the new range of AVOOVA bangles will be a very hot item this coming summer and winter. Retailing at very affordable prices the bangles come in three different sizes and a range of mainly natural, organic colours. Their appeal lies in their combination of natural, eco-friendly materials, the ivory colour of the shell and the individuality of each hand-crafted piece.

Other beautiful new products added to the range include T Lights – Ceramic Bowls and Plates – Napkin Rings – Images of Africa ornamental eggs and much else.
