The new website and on line store went live in September 2009, offering residents of South Africa the opportunity to order AVOOVA products for delivery anywhere in the country.

International shoppers will also be able to purchase from the website but will need to contact the company to arrange alternative methods of payment due to SA’s prevailing Foreign Exchange controls.

AVOOVA was recently commissioned by Terence Disdale Design to create 5 bespoke ostrich eggshell tables for the world’s largest private motor yacht, Eclipse, on behalf of its owner, Roman Abramovich.

The private yacht measures 170 metres in length and was built in Germany at an estimated cost of US$350 million.

The new Cape Originals gallery and shop has opened on the corners of Shortmarket and Bree Streets in central Cape Town. The gallery features the widest array of AVOOVA accessories and furniture to date as well as some exceptional work by other Cape- or Karoo-based artists, designers and producers. Contemporary, Afro Chic and very different; the gallery also offers private clients the AVOOVA bespoke service for custom-designed and hand made table tops, mirrors or bars.

The gallery is open Mon to Fri. from 9 am to 5pm and 9.am to 1pm on Saturdays.

The newest addition to the Menyezela Collection is the double bottle champagne bucket in hand cast aluminium, decorated with ostrich eggshell and inlaid with four AVOOVA ostrich motifs in sterling silver. Only available from the Cape Originals shop, there is already a waiting list for this highly functional work of art.

Nandos, one of SA’s best loved brands, commissioned AVOOVA to create servery bars for their two newest flagship outlets in the UK – to show-case their South African heritage. The bars, depicting the praying mantis, measured 7 and 9 metres respectively .

The Cape Craft & Design Institute, recently issued AVOOVA with the highly coveted CAPE CRAFT ICON award for the ostrich eggshell creations of Gideon Engelbrecht, as well as for the company’s contribution as innovators, trend setters and job creators.
